If our numbers prove to be wrong, we will adjust them, publish a retraction, and update the video if necessary. If the Secretary of State can come up with a reasonable explanation of why the numbers do not match, then we will mark the issue as resolved and move on. (Update 5/7/22 – we found a wrong number and we have fixed it – Dallas County lost 2000 votes, not 2120 as originally reported. We have fixed it and commented in an update)
Of the total vote, 3.64% was lost across all parties. But it was not evenly spread. Democrats lost an estimated 69,000 votes which is 6.4% of the democratic turnout. Republicans lost an estimated 47,000 votes which was 2.4% of the republican turnout.
Our numbers were validated by a data expert, and the spreadsheets validated as well. The sum of official votes exactly matches the total govenor race totals, so any manual entering of values appears to be properly entered.
